MyLife Specialist Care offers high quality, personalised care planning and delivery for adults and children with specialist health care needs, so they can stay in their own homes.

Our Specialist Care teams are led by registered nurses, supported by highly qualified Health Care Assistants with a minimum of two years care experience and who have passed the MyLife Specialist care training programme.
All our Health Care Assistants complete practical and classroom-based training for each individual customer, ensuring the highest level of competency and professionalism in delivery of specialist care for each of our customers.

As important as their professional skillsets, all of our Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants are carefully recruited for their personal skills, namely compassion, integrity and commitment to their vocation.
The Specialist Care service is overseen by the MyLife Clinical Governance Board and regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

Disabled Children and Young Persons’ Specialist Care

MyLife provides nurse-led care for children and young people with specialist care needs, enabling them to stay at home.

Based on the government initiatives Every Child Matters and Aiming High for Disabled Children, our service is centred on individual needs and wishes. Young people and their parents are able to select their own support team and feel fully empowered in their care management plan.

We will work closely with you to deliver the highest standard of nursing and emotional support in a caring home environment.

We can offer support for short respite breaks through to ongoing 24 hour Live in care for conditions including:

  • Birth injury
  • Congenital myopathies
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Acquired brain injuries
  • Spinal injury
  • Learning disabilities
  • Diabetes
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Palliative care for life limiting conditions

Post-Injury and Post-Operative Care

Our nurse led specialist team can provide additional medical care and support at home following an injury or operation, with the primary focus being to return the customer to independent living.

We work with our customers to develop bespoke care and rehabilitation programmes to meet individual needs, delivered by highly trained and committed Health Care Assistants and Registered Nurses.

Support might include:

  • Personal care
  • Re-enabling exercised and rebuilding confidence
  • Medication management
  • Pain management
  • Monitoring of vital signs, including blood pressure, blood sugar levels and urinalysis
  • Catheter and stoma care
  • Change of dressings
  • Supporting good fluid and nutrition intake

Rapid Response Home Health Care and Health Monitoring

Our Rapid Response Specialist Care is a unique MyLife service that we can put into place within 24 hours, potentially preventing hospitalisation or speeding up safe discharge following a hospital stay.

Our Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants can support with:

  • Medication management and support
  • Monitoring of vital signs including taking blood pressure, temperature, blood sugar levels and urinalysis
  • Diabetes support
  • Continence management including stoma care
  • Supporting good fluid and nutrition intake
  • Healthy weight management
  • Change of dressings

Learning Disabilities Care

Our learning disabilities care service helps people with learning difficulties to lead full and purposeful lives within their communities, encouraging independence. We can support with socialising, going to school/college and employment.

Each of our care packages is bespoke, developed in close consultation with the customer and their family, giving them choice over their care management and helping them to achieve their goals.

Our nurse-led service is supported by Health Care Assistants with training in learning disabilities including:

  • Autism
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) to include sensory disabilities, complex health needs or mental health difficulties
  • Other related conditions including epilepsy management

Specialist Neurological Care

Our specialist neurological care service is centred on the individual needs of each customer, with a personalised care plan developed with the customer to ensure that it is right. We can offer 24 hour Live in care.

Our nurse led team of Health Care Assistants are specially trained to provide support for neurological conditions including:

  • Acquired brain injuries
  • Spinal injuries
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Cerebral vascular accidents (strokes)
  • Brain and spinal tumours

Specialist Respite Care

MyLife offers specialist respite care, enabling permanent carers to take a break when they need to. This service can be provided on a regular or ad hoc basis.

Our highly trained Health Care Assistants and / or Registered Nurses are able to step into your shoes, ensuring a seamless delivery of high quality care and the reassurance that a loved one is being cared for.
